Radiola network lamp `` Rubin ''.

Network tube radiosDomesticRadiola network lamp "Rubin" in 1958 was developed by the Riga State Electrotechnical Plant VEF. By 1956, the VEF plant had developed a number of receivers and radios based on finger lamps of various designs. Some of the units and chassis of the vehicles are unified. All devices had a rocker switch, a rotatable internal magnetic antenna and an internal VHF dipole. Class III receivers and radios had 2 speakers, class II and higher by 4. The names were represented by precious stones: Almaz, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Crystal, Rubin, Sapphire, Topaz, Amber. There was a river series: Amur, Angara, Terek, Dvina and a musical series: Concert, Melody, Symphony. There were other names as well. Some of the samples were transferred for production to other factories in the USSR, some were manufactured by an experimental batch. In the newspaper Vefietis (VEFovets) at the end of 1955 it was reported that the assignment of the Ministry of Radio Engineering Industry of the USSR on the development of 15 new models and the manufacture of their prototypes by the VEF designers had been fulfilled. Most of the devices developed were demonstrated at the 1958 World Exhibition in Brussels and were awarded prizes. Many developments were shown at the 1959 exhibition in New York. Since 1956, the development of a dozen more promising receivers and radio transmitters was continued, including the presented radio “Rubin”. The top-class "Rubin" radiola was a prototype exhibition model and was produced in a small series.
