Subscriber loudspeaker "Zarya".

Subscriber loudspeakers.DomesticThe subscriber loudspeaker "Zarya" (loudspeaker) from 1930 to 1940 was produced by the Lenin Nizhny Novgorod Telephone Plant. The photograph on the right shows the working position of the loudspeaker. Of course, it is not entirely pleasant to contemplate the support leg, nuts and cord, but such is the design feature that if the loudspeaker is placed correctly, the sound will be more diffused, less intelligible and weak. From the photos below, everything will become clear. The device of the loudspeaker is simple, the base is a fiber or paper diffuser, fixed in a case with holes made of lightweight metal, combined with an electromagnetic mechanism where a mechanical volume control is installed. Of course, the sound quality of this loudspeaker was not very high, judging by the range of reproducible sound frequencies, it is 300 ... 3000 Hz, and its sound can also be compared with the sound of headphones like TON, with metal membranes, only loud. The mechanical volume control also introduced distortion, especially at low volume, but the loudspeaker performed its main purpose to transmit information well.
